Every now and again I will pick up some book extolling financial wisdom on how to manage your wealth and increase it, etc. Every time I begin to read these materials, I quickly realize that there is a reason I pay other people to do handle my wealth management.

So far this book is of a much higher quality of writing than those by James Rollins... I've been reading quite a bit of Rollins work and was starting to be frustrated with the poor character development and unrealistic portrayals.

Another thing about this book, the character of Omaha is like a petulant child. The "man" has no emotional intelligence and seems to be purely reactive and does not stop to take time to make logical decisions or even think rationally and acts purely on emotion.

The characters tend to have abrupt character development that runs contrary to what has been previously established/outlined. Also, some of these characters are so cliched/stereotypical of what you'd find in an action/adventure film that it comes of even more unrealistic than the story already is.

So far, this is a bit too similar to Dune, The Name of the Wind, and material such as Red Rising. Some of the passages even seem to be as if the author took one of these source materials and just referenced a thesaurus in order to reword entire passages and place them in their own book...

So far this is an enjoyable adventure to read! Though one critique I have is that when the book tranistions between narratives it does so without a page break or some visual indicator that it is or has tranisitioned and rather just plops you right back and forth between the different storylines, which can be a bit confusing/jarring.

So far, I am around 100 pages into this book and will say that it feels a bit like the author is doing a 'Paint-by-numbers' fantasy story with the two protagonists being in different social classes/standing and both wanting to pretty much be in the other's shoes, etc. Intriguing, but nothing so far that has stood out to me that seems original.
