One of the essential choices I made for the year (assuming it will stick) is that I will read one chapter a day of the Malazan Book of the Fallen and I hope this will allow me to get to the finish line. Plus, I get to spend time in this world every single day, until I get to the last chapter!

I have not been super engaged on Goodreads - other than for tracking my reads - but I have been working really hard on the podcast and I have a new episode out, dedicated to mages, wizards and witches! it will be the first of many episodes, there are plenty of mages in fantasy!

This is the first time that I feel so much for the protagonist in this world - monster is one of the most emotionally rich characters to date and I am digging it!

This became a space opera with thriller elements to it. I am just living this ride so much. Ready for more!

This is an unexpected gift - for book 4, I wanted to get more access to Naomi, to connect with her as a character! And this is even more than I could have asked for!

The challenge of starting many books and struggling to finish them; not my preferred way to read, yet the brain wants what the brain wants. Until enough is enough.

I did not recall so many interesting things happening in the first chapter: not only Boy has his first exposure to nobility (and Verity and Regal specifically), I forgot about Burrich and the pup. I remember there are traumatic events to come but I forgot it really all starts in the first chapter!

Cleaning up the reading list to be ready to kick off 2024! Planning what to read for a year - at least big picture - is quite exciting. Let's see how the impulsive reader in me will deal with this bridle.

Such a good title; and this is a completely different story compared to the first six books. So far, I am enjoying these stories! Plus, Reacher starts season two shortly and it was confirmed there is a season three - currently filming!

I was a bit thrown off by the flashback approach until it clicked and it is working quite well for me. Some of the descriptions, especially when creating tension, are so well executed. And the subject of the story is captivating!

Still true to being a page turner. Lin is probably my favorite character so far yet Kel’s story line is a tad more interesting.
It is a political intrigue all in all. And we’re getting a second story woven in with the land of Aran. And yes, I am fully rooting for Adassa!
What I am missing still is a greater exploration of the pantheon and why that matters. We’ll see!

Here is the positive: this is a genuine page turner. the world build is rich and intricate - one can see Cassandra Clare spending many hours in this world to make it realistic, complete and complex - so far the plot feels a bit simplistic. So let’s see what comes next.

Also, I get vibes of the Prince and the Pauper and Esmeralda from the hunchback of Notre Dame.

I am quite late to this party; Empire of the Wolf seems has a great plot and very interesting characters. I wonder if it will also have a great world building! Did you read The Justice of Kings and the Tyranny of Faith?

Reading fantasy, there are quite a lot of leadership examples (positive and negative) that can apply in one's daily life.

What are the leadership skills (or leaders in fantasy) that truly speak to you?

A true page turner. I cannot wait to finish the book today; I am amazed about how easily it flows! Amina is a great character and the world building feels rich, with layers and new (although a tad inspired by the author’s prior trilogy). Fun!

I have been interested in developing a greater knowledge and expertise in women in fantasy and I wanted to start sharing that experience online! I will be posting regularly about women in fantasy; feel free to suggest names to add to the list!
