I was really enjoying this book but there is a certain character that ends up leaving the story, which has lead to be less interested. I hope they come back because I was really enjoying the cast. Kuangs weakest points for me is her ability to create a cast of enjoyable characters, she finally did here. So I hope this person comes back.

It gets very academic in a unique way when it comes to fantasy. Its quirky at times.

This one of my first experiences reading history. I’ve tried in the past and it’s dry, but Kinzer is a really good writer and put things in a way that makes the history feel alive.

So I have no idea what’s happening. It’s a short book, and I have a feeling the plot will come together later on. I’m choosing to trust the author here.
