Estela is insufferable. Debating DNFing because she has no redeeming qualities. Idk how the author can possibly make this character even tolerable going forward.

Lore is seriously the most annoying fmc. I’ve loved all of the other stories from the Kingdom of the Wicked and Prince of Sins series, but I cannot stand Lore.

Luc is an asshole who doesn’t deserve the unwavering loyalty Helena gives him.

Maybe I’m crazy, but every sex scene between Meryn and Killian gives me the ick. Tempted to start fast forwarding through them. Also, I absolutely despise that he calls her kitten. 🤢

Hannah is just eww. I’ve disliked other FMCs, but so far she’s the worst. How is she so delusional to think she’s ever going back home? She’s so self-absorbed. “I was gonna be famous.” Boo hoo. 🙄 Sorry, but her story does not incite even an ounce of pity or empathy.

DNFing. Already know where this is going. Her running to Hayden for “one last hoorah” was so off-putting, and after reading some reviews it’s clear that her self-centered, childish behavior does not change. On to Hen’s story. Hopefully it’s better than whatever this was.

Only 3% in and already annoyed with this fmc. Who goes on tv to talk about their romance-novel-turned-movie and thinks it’s smart to say what she did? And then be surprised by the reactions? Leave your cynicism for your real-life friends, not national tv.

I’m sorry, but how did she not see the meeting going that way? I know she’s naïve, but there’s no way she’s that stupid. 🙄

Sig and Chloe are on my nerves. Especially Sig. They find out their parents elope and he doesn’t even stay to talk to her?! Just disappears and completely self-destructs. 🙄

Really debating DNFing this book. The fact that the only drama is that 2 adults met and fell in love only to learn that their parents are engaged and they will technically be “step-siblings” is just stupid. And it’s the only conflict so far, so all I’m feeling is frustrated that people are making it a big deal and keeping them apart.

3 hours in and I am struggling to connect with this one. Like I genuinely cannot see that reason for the drama here. It seems so contrived. They’re both adults. They met as adults without knowing about their parents. There is 0 blood relation. So where exactly is the scandal here? I mean, I guess there will always be someone holier-than-thou pearl clutches who would try to make it something that it isn’t, but why?

This is only my second Ali Hazelwood book, and I’m only 33% into the book, but I’m genuinely irritated with the situation. Pen and Lukas break up, but Pen doesn’t act like they’ve broken up and they haven’t told anyone except Scarlett. Like wtf? So obviously that’s going to end up causing drama eventually. I just can’t imagine Lukas going along with not telling everyone that they broke up.

I know it probably won’t happen but I really want Alex to go off on her dad…maybe even dragon out and eat him. What a horrible pos.

I know a lot of people complain about the constant talk of darkness and stars and uses for tongues, but I’m so sick of everyone “sucking on a tooth.”

I thought Scarlett was the most annoying character, but damn, Talwyn has her beat. She’s so focused on her revenge that she’s ignoring all of the counsel and (not so subtle) hints that there is more to the past than what she believes. She is 100% going to betray them for her revenge.

I also don’t think Tarek is her twin flame. I think it’s Azrael.

I had hoped Scarlett would become more bearable, but so far she seems even worse than in the last book. So much self-pity. She’s supposed to be some badass assassin but she’s just whiny and self-absorbed. She needs to have some serious character growth. If I wasn’t intrigued by the plot I would DNF just so I don’t have to read anything else from Scarlett’s pov.

Scarlett is insufferable and so unlikable. She’s like discount Aelin in the way she refuses to tell anyone anything she has planned.

Still can’t stand Isla. I kind of hate her and I’m so tempted to DNF this book just so I don’t have to endure her anymore.

God I cannot stand Isla. That is all.

So close to DNFing just because of this bs drama about the truth of the sword. Why does it matter so much to her that he (a mercenary) betrayed his employer 500 years ago?!
Also, if I have to hear “respectable widow” ever again I’ll stab myself like Halla tried to do in the beginning.
