Before reading: I’m not sure I’m gonna like this book.

Banger

The hype around this book so far is real

Okay now that things are coming together and being revealed, it’s kind of a banger. The expositional “explanations” are still a bit annoying, but what a great way to tie all of the cases together. I truly didn’t see things coming the way they did.

The premise is engaging if not interesting. I wouldn’t call it a “horror” novel per se; more so a thriller. But the one thing I’m getting a bit annoyed by is the “explain the solution to the case before the reader has all of the information to form their own opinion”. Every case so far has been interesting case, here’s three quarters of the info, then character comes along and solves it.

How are things still fresh and characters continue being developed this far in?

What is God? Is war ever justified? Do the casualties ever outweigh the result when the cycle will continue?

I have no idea, but Arno deserves better.

I can see why this won the Pulitzer so far. I would love to see the energy and despair continue from these extremely flawed characters.

As perfect as an audiobook can be.

Jazz, Coffee and psychosexual descriptions of women. Every time I forget that Murakami wrote this, he reminds me with one of those three things.

Quite a trip in the best way

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year.
