This is okay so far, but I'm a little confused. This is apparently the 3rd body the main character has found, and there are references to her finding a prior body and figuring out who did it - but from what I can tell, this is the first (and only) book featuring Rennie. It reads like it is the third in a series with those references.

So far, I'm enjoying this story told from the dog's POV. There is a great line: "You don't put a professional on a leash," referring to when he was involuntary retired from service to the police department and a leash was put on him when he was walked out of the building.

I love this line from the book (about 49% through), when she is talking about being surprised at how sad she feels that a mouse she was caring for died. "I realize that no matter how small or insignificant a pet might seem, the time and concern spent in caring for it is a great equalizer, and loss is loss." Very true and well said!

I love her explanation of the differences between "People Who Have Pets" and "Pet People." Very true!

This was good, but not one of my favorites by her. The character of Emily grated on my nerves, and the twists were pretty good. This was a 3.5 for me.

This was an excellent mystery! Although the ending was fairly easy to predict I was entertained the whole time; the last line was excellent!!!!

Lots of laughs in this one. I was particularly amused when Andy talks about going to dinner with Laurie and her favorite author, David Rosenfelt, was there....Andy says that he doesn't get it, as he read the first 50 pages of one of his books and couldn't continue. Oh Andy, that just doesn't jive with your love of dogs!!!! :)

I continue to be impressed with the writing and character development. There are some tough issues that are dealt with and are hard to read, but they are important to the story and not gratuitous.

This continues to be enjoyable. I purchased the audio version, so I’m listening and reading. The audio combined with the detailed writing is really bringing the characters to life. The racism Betty faces in school from peers and teachers is heartbreaking. I am particularly enjoying Betty’s father’s Cherokee stories and knowledge.

I’m only on page 50 but I was immediately drawn into the story and the characters. Looking forward to the character development!

Another slow audio book...sigh, my second in a row. However, it is narrated by Scott Brick, which is enough to keep me going!!!

The topic is interesting, but it could be shorter. There is quite a bit of repetition, which is distracting, as well as references to upcoming chapter material. I am reading and listening to audiobook at the same time and the audio book chapters don’t match the book chapters (and the chapter breaks aren’t in any logical stopping points)

I usually shy away from 625 page books, but I’m enjoying this. It’s quite funny in places, which I didn’t expect. I’m listening to it on audio and reading it, so it doesn’t take me a month to finish!

Good thing this is short (and I can listen to it at 2x speed) or else I would have dumped it.
