1st story is going to linger with me for a long time. A deceptively breezy and innocent opening narrative from the perspective of two children making friends at a beach slowly evolves into darker territory culminating into a heart pounding disturbing thriller. Great opening with a vividly realistic snapshot of childhood. Will comment on each story as I go along but I'm already slave to Ashford's compelling rhythm.

This is my second reading of this book as part of a group read in the Time Travel group. This is a revised version from the one I read first time around because the author needed to maintain a continuity in the series. I notice an additional good ascene early on. Also, I notice criticism I had for first version has been eliminated here, which was an overdone naivety by one of the main protagonists. Better so far

Once again, an absolute page turner. Not since the Harry Potter series have I been this excited in anticipation of a next instalment and for my high expectations to be met more than 100%. Its all about the characters. Some would ponder why Rowling series is so popular and conclude its about the school for wizards storyline. Its not, it's about the characters. The same here, but in a great time travel epic.

Although not a fan of first person perspective, the protagonist is likeable. snappy exposition and cuts to the chase. Decent start.

Well 59% in and I am STILL waiting for the story to pick up :( With so much promise given the epic and fascinating backdrop, this has turned into a very tedious domestic drama centred on Titus Oates coping with modern social values and women. Certainly far from being a page turner. Nevertheless, there is a potential story lurking somewhere, I can see it in the shadows, nows the time to come out please!

Had a few weeks break from reading this to read another obligated group book read. So just returning back to it. I hope I havent forgotten too much from where I left off. I do know I was getting a little impatient for a main story to pick up having enjoyed the first act.

I'm giving up on this, I am terribly bored with it. Sorry. I'm probably not in the right frame of mind for this one, I will give this another stab at a later date.

25% into the book now. While I enjoy Titus's struggles to adapt to the year 2045, a quarter way in and that's all it seems to be about so far, it s taking an awfully long time for some kind of story to kick in. 2045 sounds like an exciting time, politically and technologically but its all just a blurry backdrop to Titus's stubborn observations and plight of fitting in.

Titus is a very well defined character, brave, stubborn and rigidly old fashioned complete with prejudicial flaws inherit of the early 20th century era. So far enjoying Titus's unexpected journey to the future but too early for a story to yet develop. This book appears to have 600 pages according to the Kindle ebook scale so this may take some time to finish.

One the most charming and eloquent 1st couple page introduction I've read. Breezy dialogue and although the exposition is very long, its thoroughly engaging. Bizarrely, this book has converted me from being a cat hater to a cat lover. Pete the cat sure as heck steals the show and I will always look at cats in a different light!

Havent started reading this yet but I will embrace myself for a stark contrast to HP, perhaps a very nasty book of JK unleashing her dark side that she had bottled in the closet for probably nearly 2 decades. I expect it not to be an enjoyable read but I will brave it to support her development and ambition to diversify, and free herself from the shackles of the boy who lived.

Well the 2 very different narrative strands have converged and its good fun indeed. There's plenty of wry humour, but sometimes a bit too forced and repetitive. End of each chapter marks episode of whichever character journey we following but always end with a forecast hint of repercussions resulting from an action a character just made. I like it, keeps me thinking "oo wonder what repercussion that will have?"

A curious alternating mix of tow different narratives here. One is a quirky fantasy tale about a wizard and a thief set a thousand or 2 years ago, not sure when, and a more serious present day tale of a computer whiz working his way into the heart of banking with a big plan. How these two completely different narrative platforms will cross is so far an intriguing mystery...!

Well the co-authors sure know how to crank up the tension, thrills and excitement. I'm imagining some of the action scenes on a big screen, its got high concept blockbuster thriller vibe about it and I am enjoying the heck out of it so far.

I have given up on Up the Line...Protagonists are too unlikeable, very unpc and too obessed with sex for my liking in what I expected to be a time travel adventure. Forgive my weak tolerance.
