Remember that person who changed your life? My first true published story was in our high school newspaper, thanks to my teacher, Mr. Ferguson. Last night at the #NeilArmstrong signing in Tampa, he surprised me.

Fifty years. It is one of the greatest accomplishments in life – one of the ones I would most love to achieve. Congrats to my incredible in-laws, Dale and Bobby Flam, who have always taught me about the most important things in life. Love to you on your 50th wedding anniversary.

Thanks to the man who always bought me comic books, even when he would’ve rather been buying me baseballs. #HappyFathersDay to all, especially those missing their Pop. Love you, Dad. And thanks to my kids for making me one.

What hit me most about the #MrRogersMovie was just how much influence he had on my worldview: that everyone deserves to be loved, that you don't have to change the world to be incredible — and that simple kindness from one person to another is one of the great accomplishments in life. I am committed more than ever to put those ideas in the universe. Can’t wait to reveal the news and tell you exactly how.

Wow. Virginia sets the record — a FOUR(!) hour signing filled with kids, spies, crazy DC staffers, and kidney donor Amy while CSPAN filmed it all. Shut down the Barnes & Noble and they let everyone stay an extra hour until 11pm. Also thought the record for furthest travelled was 5 hours to Virginia from North Carolina. But BROKEN by a couple who supposedly flew from SEATTLE and were delayed! I love you, people!

Best Book Not By Me: Option B by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant. Hilo by Judd Winick. And for pure fun, Ready Player One, which proved Ernest Cline lived in my childhood brain. ....

... Best Album: Based on pure playing, boy, did we play a lot of George Michael for our kids. Man of soul.

Best Comic: Infamous Iron Man by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev (for Doom and Ben Grimm alone), Batman by Tom King and Mitch Gerads (for the Bat/Cat romance, the only Bruce Wayne romance I’ve ever believed). Honorable mentions for Unbeatable Squirrels- Girl. Mister Miracle. Jessica Jones. ....

... I, Tonya was surprisingly fulfilling, just for Margot Robbie’s line to the audience calling us all her attackers. And the Lego Batman Movie was best animated -- and best Batman movie in YEARS. I’m serious. Core of the character. But for pure originality, nothing put me on the edge of my seat more than Baby Driver. I am tired of retreads. I want more originality. Reward this....

The Good Place, Legion, The Leftovers, Mrs. Maisel, etc (its been a busy year). But even with every Hot Topic running the Rick & Morty merch into the ground and ruining the Pickle Rick joke, it still rules all.

Best Movies: Thor was great. Logan was even better. By a mile. Logan may even be my favorite film of the year...

Today would’ve been my Dad’s 74th birthday. Still think of him, and that big cartoon voice, every day. So celebrating him with this brand new essay that DC Comics asked me to write about the Justice League — and the best present my Dad gave me. Miss and love you, Pop — and so thankful I had you.
