I started this simply because I saw the trailer for the movie, and nearly put it down when I reached "I let out a breath I hadn't realised I was holding" within the first five chapters. I don't have high hopes, but it should be an easy, light summer read?

I'm up to page 109 and there's no body. I had to check the back cover to see if I'd just assumed someone died, but no ... "Then comes tragedy. An accident? Or is it murder?"

I mean, I have a really good idea of the setting – I am indeed steeped in the setting – but the lack of body is quite distracting.

I found out what was happening shortly after the last update, but the writing hasn't improved. It's vaguely sexist (I guess that's the Ian Fleming comparison), but mostly just pedestrian. Too much telling, not enough showing, and way too much repetition.

I actually have no idea what this book is about. I thought I'd know by now, but I'm just wading through more and more character descriptions. There is, at least, one dead body now though, so that's good.

Oh god ... I don't even know if I'll finish reading it. It's rivalling 'American Psycho' for detailed description, but not in a good way.

I'm now skipping pages if it looks like being a discussion about redecorating or weddings. I also had to google "slipper bath", so I can't say I'm not learning anything.

Oh god, I really thought this was going to be a mystery, but it's a romance. I want to know how the 'rogue husband' plot unravels, but I keep getting descriptions of sundresses and heart-of-gold tradesmen instead.
