Suzzanne Kelley is on page 196 of 352 of Fly Girls: How Five Daring Women Defied All Odds and Made Aviation History
I am really enjoying this work...full of suspense as the women succeed (or die). Interesting to learn about one of the women pilots who has Fargo-Moorhead origins. The women's efforts are phenomenal, and with each page I admire them more. I bought this book because it is a One Community One Book reading selection for this year. Good choice, selection committee!

Nearly done. I'll be said to read the last pages. Having sat in Madge's kitchen and dined on her spaghetti, toast, and fresh eggs, I can hear her voice through these marvelous tales of being an intrepid and entrepreneurial station wife. Her narrative unfolds beautifully to show the growth of her family's sheep station and her tourism & seed businesses. She's a master storyteller in person and on paper.

I'm reading this book for at least the fifth time. It is assigned reading for my publishing class. It's an amazing book for its history and for the predictions of a publishing genius.

Suzzanne Kelley is starting Pioneer Girl: The Annotated Autobiography
REALLY enjoyed the thorough commentary in the Introduction. Well written scholarly and thoughtful analysis. I'm looking forward to the upcoming section, Editorial Procedures. (Had to say I'm on page 1 to fit goodreads's format, but really I'm still in the front matter section!)

I'm enjoying very much Melanie's description of Mott's history & people, and how "Patton's war was won by my father, my father-in-law, and by Moe and Red, and by Dick and Hugo, and other unassuming men up and down Mott's Main Street . . ." In my favorite song (Prairie Town), there is a marvel at "the heroes among us." Melanie captures that spirit as well, all the while making little of her own heroics as an athlete.

How does a young author write with such wisdom? I'm loving this book, even though I see my own foibles in the characters.

LOVING this book! Gorgeous drawings, paintings, and photographs, in a beautifully designed interior. Berentson is a storyteller, making more interested in a bird than I'd have thought possible.

Off to a good start, and finding clues for the information I need. Great details about small-time mining equipment, but also about this period of time that I'm interested in. I look forward to my stolen moments for reading.

Suzzanne Kelley is on page 152 of 220 of Cattle King: The Rags-to-Riches Story of Sidney Kidman in Outback Australia
I picked up this book because of my interest in the regions of central and western Australia, but also because of its inclusion in the Australian Classics Series. I'm a historian, so I find the lack of citations and the personalization of the narrative to be distracting, but I recommend Cattle King for the author's ability to describe the landscape and the people with a well conveyed sense of beauty and peril.

Odd that Salman calls the memoir by his hiding-out alias, and odder still that he writes in 3rd person. He does nothing to dispel questions about authenticity when it comes to memoir writing, but he does write with superior style. So far, a very good read.

I can't see why this book has a 4.32 average rating. I don't like to put it down and I don't want it to end. Seems like a 5 to me.
