I am probably not going to finish this book. The intro, “why we wrote this book” takes about 40 pages. Their introspection is not very detailed, very vague, and has frequent interruptions for selections of song lyrics.

I am thinking the book is kind of repetitive. He does mention that the puritan tradition is to take one verse and write volumes about it, which it feels like is what he is doing here.

This guy really loves metaphors. I can easily see that this book could be half as long if he would just write what he wants to say without using an introductory metaphor for each chapter and each concept. I’m not sure what generation he is writing TO, but this member of the millennial generation (me) thinks it would be better if he got to the point.

Not what I expected. The contents of the first half include a lot of explanation of how the author came to his conclusions. It resembles the methods section of a research paper but is a much easier read.

I shouldn’t have gone with dystopian fiction. Real life is dystopian enough at the moment...
