this book is deliciously unapologetically trans. the rawness of the transness, the boldness, the refusal to censor thoughts and experiences that some would (and will, I’m sure) decry as “playing into the hands of TERFS”. it’s refreshing to read a trans book that doesn’t care what cis people think of it, that’s far more interested in honest transness than palatable or marketable transness.

ah, the feeling of being back in TRC universe is a good one. I’m not a fan of maggie as a person but I do love the way she writes these books and the familiar prose style is a welcome return. can’t wait to see where this goes.

I have mixed feelings about this so far and I’m kinda worried it’s going to taint how I feel about the original trilogy. Part of me wishes she would have just left it at that because I loved the ending of the initial trilogy, it gave closure without giving all the answers. But I loved the characters too much to pass up on a chance to read more about them when it was offered.
