25% thoughts: Right now, I'd rate this a 2. It's not so horrid that I am hate-reading it, but it's not great, and I'm not really enjoying it. The writing could be tightened up, why aren't proper quotation marks being used?, and the plot is mediocre at best (maybe I'm just tired of reading the mentally abusive husband trope one more time.) It reads fast, at least.

I'm glad I'm reading this as an ebook because there are SO many names mentioned it is hard to keep straight. I just spent a lot of time searching the ebook for some of the names that came up in this chapter to find out when they were brought up before.

I wish I were reading this with a group. It is an interesting novel, though it feels more like a short story, or a factionalized memoir-essay in the way it is written. There’s an obvious metaphor happening with the crack and I just can’t quite place what it is meant to be a metaphor of.
