An early detail that was retconned by the origin trilogy of the age of drizzt. A passing detail is that drizzt spent 200 years underground. But the origin trilogy claims only 50(ish).

Pride, it is among the most foolish of human emotions. It, more often than not, leads to tragedy if not, at the very least, folly. Pride is security in one's own skill to one's own detriment. Be that detriment the degradation of skill or overestimating in the face of adversity. Pride can also bring about ensuring hardship when one is too proud to seek out help or even accept it freely offered.
