Also, I now want to know more about the Night Brigade.

The rumours are true!
Steven Pacey's narration is a delight, particularly the way he voices Glokta.

Guess what, someone mentioned listening this at 1.5x speed on reddit and I tried it. I was (pleasantly) surprised to find that the whole thing is quite audible and the words are still clear at that speed (though the sentences were going a little too fast for my taste). That indeed is some excellent narration there.

Trying the audiobook on this reread; Had heard great things about Steven Pacey's narration, especially how he handles our favourite Glokta!

1) A more serious tone than Tress of the Emerald Sea, which is more to my liking.
2) Liyun is like a bullying parent who is never happy no matter how much the child accomplishes with an uncanny ability to somehow turn their successes into shortcomings.
3) Hoid's mention of Design means that this happens after Oathbringer. Need to check if Brandon gave an actual timeline.

Uh, early into this book, the vibes are weird. The narration feels very child like; I am not sure if it was an attempt to emulate Tress's personality.

- She felt less like a mere human being, and more like a human who was merely being.

- “Why are they always fair maidens?” she said. “Are there maidens that are unfair? Perhaps they mean ‘fare,’ as in food. I could be that kind of maiden. I’m good with food.

An absolute no nonsense read that is tough to put down so far; has some gruelling battles, and brilliant scenes that stand out!

Androl!! Where have you been hiding till now?? I love how new characters come almost near the end of the series and steer the plot.

I like that we are actually seeing PoVs and views from other characters rather than our MCs when we start this.

There is a lot happening quite early in this book but I do not find myself invested in the characters or events, yet!

1) This continues the good pace and writing we'd seen in The Gathering Storm. Not sure if it is Jordan's or Sanderson's, but I am loving this.

2) Perrin's parts feel like a drag. He is going down from one of my favourite characters to one of the least favourite. I really hope it gets better with him!

1) This is a giant step up from the previous books. We've multiple scenes that shine due to their sheer brilliance in writing and impact. While I don't know if this is Jordan's work or Sanderson's, it is certainly a very welcome one.

2) Mat seems off. When did that man become such a huge complaining cry baby (he does that a little usually about women in general, but this is quite out of character).

3) Rand *sob*

1) Wax's entry in chapter 23 is simply whistle-worthy. I could imagine watching it in a movie 😍

2) So far, we only got minor bits and pieces of Cosmere in the books, but this just opens the box all of a sudden; For someone who has only read Mistborn, but not the other Cosmere books, this is a lot of spoilery content.

3) Wayne is the much needed relief. I missed Wax and Wayne interactions early in this book.
