Absolutely no introduction. It’s as if you flipped the last page in the first book and then you’re just in the next chapter. All killer no filler. I love it!

I’ve always known the names, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Bill Evans, but I never really put together how much that world overlapped with one another. This is more than just a book about those three jazz, musicians, but much more about how the world of jazz was being impacted by post World War II life. The world of bebop, hard bop, and lyrical instrumental jazz has been incredible to learn about.

Really excellent memoir so far. Listening as an audiobook and it has all these little nuggets, like his mom and dad reading a part about themselves, banter with the audio technician, music swells, and other fun little things. It’s great!

Mitch Clay is on page 55 of 480 of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking
I am absolutely engrossed by this book so far. I’ve always enjoyed cooking, and I think I’ve got some decent tricks already, but this is helping me understand foundations of cooking in a completely different way. I am so excited to continue to get into this. Thank you so much to my friend Monica for letting me borrow it!
