Perfect example of what Charlotte Mason means by living books. So well-written, interested, packed with knowledge, and so delightful I feel like Percy and I are already best friends.

Who knew golf stories could be so hilarious? I'll echo Stephen Fry and say the golf stories are a delightful surprise even if you couldn't care less about golf. I think i like them better than the Jeeves short stories.

I did not expect to love this so much. One of my favorites of the year.

Of course I, without any knowledge of the plot, picked this up with my son while in the middle of reading Ivanhoe and it's full of spoilers 😂

Mason is just so wise and inspiring. Reading her work is like having a mentor - I learn something more on every page about being a parent, an educator, and a person.

This is so good already. A true living book.

So demnition hilarious

So interesting to encounter Lewis' ideas in this format. I get excited when I read a poem and make a connection to his other works. I'm discovering Lewis is profoundly consistent and found many different ways to express the same ideas.

I'm crazy about this book. I already loved CS Lewis for his fiction and religious works, but his literary works make me want to be best friends with him - and feel like we really are best friends while I'm reading.

Wow, much of this seems almost direct exposition of Charlotte Mason's ideas about children as born persons and living books. (Sadly, still as revolutionary at Lewis' time as Mason's.)

So fun to read on the heels of Northanger Abbey... Can really see Burney's influence on Austen
