I returned this book to audible. Not for me.

Stephen King is back.

I can’t decide if it’s the actual book or the narration, But I do know this. It’s not good. A robot could read with more inflection. I’m stopping wherever I am at This point. Don’t waste your time. How this got such great reviews I will never know.

I could hardly wait for this book, so many years after The Firm. Such a disappointment. I think it’s a stretch to call this a sequel, same character names but that’s the only resemblance to Mitch and Abbey McDeere. Grisham writes well, But this had no passion. He left it open for another sequel that I won’t be reading.

I am an SK constant reader. I never thought I would write a bad review on one of his books, yet here it is. COVID COVID, COVID. Every chapter. Just when you think it ends more COVID. At first I thought, it’s like a time capsule. 20 years from now people will wonder why we say Moderna or Pfizer, but this is OVERKILL. A romance with a murder. Hope this saves you some time

Celeste Ng writes beautifully but this one misses the mark. I never liked the characters. The Dad, Ethan, was an unlikable, brooding back story. Margaret was also unlikable. I didn’t feel much for Bird either. I wanted to like this book, but I could hardly wait for it to end. If you want to read a dystopian novel, read the Handmaids Tale.

It was beautifully written but maybe I just wasn’t in the mood!

Coriolanus, Coriolanus, Coriolanus. I wish I had started counting how many times this name was in the book. This isn’t on par with the rest of the Hunger Games books. The last chapter was the best part. If you can get that far.

I didn’t finish. Not my kind of story. I was fairly bored with it.
