65 pages in and I now want to devour this book… this is already incredible!

This book reminds me of the golden compass - in a good way!

Yes - plot twist I didn’t see and still waiting for one I think I see 🤣 loving this!

So far - this is everything I’ve wanted in a fantasy book for quite awhile. Magic, familiars, and a blood feud? This is starting strong, hope it carries on!

Thinking about DNFIng this one… does it get better after page 100? Maybe just back on my shelf for another time…

I just figured out these are short stories in one world…. Not sure how I feel about this…

Does this get any better? Is it even worth finishing?! Reading something else for a bit because this just isn’t doing it for me.

This seems to have fallen into the standard book 2 issue… while book 1 was full of energy and adventure, this one is full of politics and scheming but very little actually happening. This is unfortunate.

This quote - imagine how you’d feel if all the people who care about you made a practice of telling you so. Imagine what the world would be like if we allowed ourselves to recognize & acknowledge & communicate all the sweet feelings, to make the little gestures that may not be life changing or passionate but nevertheless make life worthwhile.

DNF - just not into this genre right now

Half an hour in and I will say I’m nervous about this one.
It’s starting off with whites being the preferred race, girls needing to be pure, and a very strong religious view.
I’m already not thrilled with it, so here’s to hoping it gets better.

I have to say, I only got this because it’s mentioned so much in Midnight Sun.
I almost quit 20 page in. On the back it’s compared to pride and prejudice but dragons. With that in mind I opted to try... I’m still not convinced, but we shall see.

book one - if I thought 1984 by Orwell was intense, it’s obvious that I hadn’t yet read this. Following two characters of this story, I have no idea, still, if they are in the same reality, same timeline, or if one is created by the other. While the translation can come across as blunt at times, it provides a very unique style for the reader.
