The American accents on the audiobook are horrendous. The man supposedly from Cincinnati has the twangiest Southern accent 😂

Nitpicky Problems:
1) Car seat checks are a thing, and they don't let you leave the hospital without the baby being in the car seat.
2) Drop side cribs are not a thing anymore.

I enjoyed parts 1 and 2, but part 3 is kind of a snoozer and I'm finding myself glazing over. There's not as much of Penn and Kim injected into the content of chapters 11 and 12 - reads more like a research paper and I'm bored.

I was once duped by a con artist. In middle school, Tina borrowed money from me because she "forgot her lunch", hitting me up whenever she saw I'd bought a lunch (this was not often). She made promises of swift repayment. By the time she owed me around $5 over the course of the school year, I was wise to the fact that she was never going to pay me back and had never had any intentions of doing so. You owe me $5 Tina.

I just gotta say the voice actor of this audiobook is driving me nuts. Breathy and sing-songy. I usually listen to things at about 2x speed. I'm still irritated at 2.35x. But the subject is just interesting enough that I don't want to put it in the DNF pile. Save yourself pain and read it sans sound if you can.

If you haven't read Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, or The Good Sister, this main character might be new to you. If you like Groundhog Day - you have the basic plot.

So far this book is just meh for me, we'll see if it surprises farther in.

Tone changes completely when history after the schism begins. But I suppose it's easier to give grace to groups of people within living memory.

I really take issue with people interpreting history without consideration of people in the past being capable of a multifaceted character, rather than one dimensional figures driven by one purpose alone.

The scholarship of this book is highly suspect, just judging by the extremely lazy and biased treatment of early church history. (And I'm not ignorant of all the criticisms of Joseph Smith. I prefer to read a simple presentation of facts with less derision and condescension thank you. I recommend Rough Stone Rolling if you want a more balanced approach.)

I'll be taking the rest of this piece with a grain of salt.

Some of "facts" about the mainstream church make me lol. (Still enjoying it very much despite mini inaccuracies.)

Caution: this book may be full of fairy stories and the hero may be a child, but this book is NOT for children. 😱 But I am enjoying it very much!
