i’m frustrated! and i fear i will stay frustrated unless something drastic happens. there is only so much profundity to found in the life of someone who is very boring.

at one point wyeth sees a little girl with a balloon sword and we spend a longish paragraph musing about what the physicality of the rubber and implied violence of the weapon could mean to her. get me out of here !!!!!!

maybe i’m not being cerebral enough but nothing’s happening they’re just talking about the human condition and stuff

the libby random search function has given me an incredible gift

getting worried … halfway through and the romance isn’t moving me at all. they need a fun little digression where they have to sleep in the same bed or nurse each other to health or something

i’m really struggling … i forgot this was a cheating trope romance book and anna is bafflingly clueless about paris in a way that stretches the very limits of my imagination. can’t even begin to imagine what etienne sees in her unfortunately

unreal that i used to love this book lol. anna just told etienne that some people in atlanta “speak gansta,” to which he replies (in his english accent) “fo ‘shiz” and she finds it so funny that she snorts orange soda

unfortunately this book suffers from i don’t care and i don’t like these characters … but im trying my hardest to finish

i already know about slavery and stuff so this isn’t really moving me tbh

i hate them. preemptive two stars

nothingburger besides the first essay. reading these in the new yorker over 8 years when they were originally published would have been a much more enjoyable experience

i’m not compelled …

most of this book is just people worrying about being a little bit cold but when mrs. elton does it it’s the most annoying thing in the world … omg i can’t stand her. so gauche !!!!!

i’m trying to stretch out emma as long as possible so i started another book. every time her mom has another kid i feel like im banging on one way glass begging her to stop. nothing sadder to me than having 12 kids between the ages of 18 and 39 and only really stopping because you become a widow

emma is so dear to me i haven’t been updating this one because every post would just be some variation of wowww love her so much

i realized i hadn’t tried to read a romance book in way too long so i started one and when it was clear immediately that wasn’t gonna happen i went back to my tried and true option … hello 2020

got to nana’s death and had to stop reading bc i was about to cry on the train. i know myself so well

yeah i’m eating my words i think this book is gonna make me cry

i was going to be annoying about the prose but the glimpses of nana are already breaking my heart so i’m pretty sure it won’t matter much in the end

on the master builder act 2 and if it sticks the landing we might have a new favorite play … hedda gabler watch out your crown is slipping

bought it again on ebay idgaf i’m finishing this … hedda gabler 10/10 she’s so awesome

finished ghosts and that is Not the conclusion i was expecting. i give it a solid 3/5 stars. onto hedda gabler!

just finished act two of ghosts i’m GAGGED. mrs alving is gonna tell them everything in act 3 😭
