Turns out not working 100+ hour weeks is great for your reading habits, who knew?

Pretty interesting book, although most of this was already known to me via other sources at least thus far. These can often be dense, but it’s pretty easy reading

I didn’t mean to actually add this since I’m using it for reference but whoops

Slog, oh interesting!, slog, odd romance, slog… there’s so many interesting bits in here but needs an editor and some concision

The idea is interesting but the dialog is ruining it for me

It’s fascinating that the author is so breathless in his discussions of Hassabis that he just brushes over Hassabis’ obsession with Ender and “questions of whether or not Ender committed genocide.”

I think one of the few books I’ve read where female physical traits are described as character traits. I know that’s a common critique of classic sci-fi and this book fits it. Still enjoyable otherwise, but it’s definitely jarring

Pretty interesting look into historical modes of version control, which is exactly what I was looking for

This book is bizarre: it’s like a breathless review of how problematic Chinese entrepreneurship is (lots of copies, minimal innovation, win-at-all-cost competition) with no insight into how these can be problematic, whilst simultaneously dumping on SV for similar cultural issues. It just seems to be missing much introspection. The views in Chinese tech culture are fascinating however
