part 1 captures early childhood so beautifully

just started this tonight and i can already tell im going to love this. the writing is gorgeous and i feel so in tune with the setting and characters. cant wait to pick it up again

ngl this has been super hard to read. the descriptions and third person writing make this very hard for me to connect with.

i already struggle with visualizing when reading and i am strongly feeling my lack with book. i can't imagine a single thing going on, it just feels like words on a page to me

1. u rly mean to tell me this girl's now the maid of honor.
2. why does she want to fuck the brides husband so bad u talked to him 1 time.

3. wish phoebe would stop saying 'im really not the type of person who'd kill myself,' like genuinely wdymmm,, so insensitive to ppl who have actually gone through w it, in my opinion

trying to like this so bad but it feels obvious how this book is going to end. why is phoebe so attracted to gary after 1 10-minute convo and how does she get over crippling depression overnight?

also, why is everyone laughing at these unfunny ass jokes. am i just a debby downer?

consciousness talk is intriguing.

"in back" phrasing is PMO. not sure if its Murakami's fault or the translator's fault, but either way i miss Jay Rubin

things are finally picking up! so far one of his weaker installments. but i hope the story grows from here

weird shit going aaawwn. writing is bwautoful but a bit repetitive, although i believe thats the style he's aiming for since his previous work mever read like this. especially with the use of second perspective. interesting so far and excited to find out more

beautiful, vivid writing. so excited for my next Murakami read!
