Something that strikes me about these books is how contemporary they feel, especially when it comes to the details. When Avasarala complains to her assistant that he's moved some of her files, and she taps harder on her terminal as if that will bring them up, is just such current day imagery. It makes these stories seem familiar, relatable. I love that

It's been a long time since I last cried for a character in a book. This is a very sad and scary book sometimes.

Chapter 58. I'm about to give up on this series. BRUTAL. Absolutely brutal!

Came to the sick realization that the quirky veneer of Chromatacia hides a sinister culture of eugenics. Scary af.

At this point all of the main characters sound like one character [Orson] talking to himself. There's 5 of them, and they're just copies of eachother. It's so bad

It's so wholesome! So far. I'm expecting to cry in less than another 50 pages.

This is nice to listen to. Succinct, but enough is said and described.

I'm on chapter 15 of the audio, read by Craig Wasson. I think if I were reading this to myself, the sex scene in this chapter would have been some good writing. However, when Wasson voices the woman's moment of climax, it is HILARIOUS and awkward. Great book so far, but loooooong.

DNF at Chapter Thirty-Seven. This book is much too long for me right now, if ever. It started out strong

I'll finish reading this eventually. Just not a page turner.

I know where this is going and I'm kind of annoyed we're not there already.

So far, so blah. But the synopsis is so promising...

Infuriating. Overwritten.

I'm genuinely surprised there's half of this book left. It's so long! And crazy!

I picked this book up less than 12 hours ago, having just learned of its existence last week and bought on a whim (and a vague affection for Humans). I thought I'd just see how it was. And now I can't put it down. I suppose, because I resemble Nora in many aspects and have imagined living other lives, I just get it. It's not perfect. But it sure is nice to whip through a book for the first time in ages.

The most infuriating book at this point! I love it! But I feel the need to tell at it in the hope the characters will somehow hear me. Fruitless, I know.

Eerily prescient. Talks about a "Pandemic" (capitalized in the book) in their past, one not unlike our present day battle with one. A coincidence that I'm reading this now, but still eerie.

This is not at all the book I thought it would be. Thought it would be way more metaphor, kind of existential, about the lives of New Yorkers and how their paths cross, and so on. But no, it's straight up action packed sci fi, which has been jarring, but also thrilling and fun. Having trouble staying focused through the lengthy chapters, but I think that's more my broken brain right now than the writing.
