And....done. if there's a story here, it's hidden under an imperial ton of other junk.

Surprisingly decent, considering I don't normally like paranormal fantasy, and the title is just pure cheese.

Picked this up dirt cheap on audible, listening to it now. One of my favorite Honorverse stories, always good to go back to those.

Really, really enjoying this. Can't see this getting less than 5/5. Must-read, modern sci-fi. Obvious comparison to X-Men, but "talents" are much more realistic / subtle.

Is there any advanced search here? It's a real pain to find books with really common/generic titles by prolific authors. It's faster to go to Amazon, find the ISBN, and search by that... which seems wrong.

The chapter on gender in video games was not as strong as some of the rest of the book. I haven't skimmed the ToC yet to know whether other chapters will also touch on it or not.

At 39% done, I feel comfortable recommending this to any Christian who A) plays a lot of video games or B) thinks all video games are evil.

This is much headier stuff than the highly-enjoyable scifi/fantasy novels I usually read, and I'm having to pace myself so that I don't lose focus while reading.

Enjoying this mostly. Not 100% sold on character motivations (c'mon, open the cargo already or bail out... sure, you took the contract, but your self-preservation instinct is awfully low...)

Checklist: Smugglers? Yep. Variety of aliens? Yep. Duo who owns their own starship and has some organized crime relationship/connections/debts? Yep.

I'm not saying it's BAD, because it's definitely enjoyable, but yeah... :D

not as bad as some of the reviews indicate, but the distinct lack of honor in her own series is a major failing

so far, it lives up to the promise, but with 37% left, I hope that we can actually reach the climax pretty soon so we have a chance to see how things are after the last battle.

Overall better than Torch of Freedom, although that's a low bar. Accidentally read ToF first, not that it seems to make a huge difference. A little odd in that two important characters from SI01 (H. Zilwicki and Hearns) don't really show up at all until halfway through this book.

After having a very hard time getting into this book, it does pick up nicely around 25% and sucked me in solidly from that point. I think it also helped to know that what happens here will have an impact on the main Honor storyline.

As usual, stuff actually happens in the last 20% of the book. Next time I'll just skip to the end or read a summary.

yawn. Can I give a book negative stars. Does anything happen in this book? Somebody remind me why I put up with this drivel... at least the narration on the audiobook brings it up from deathly boring to barely tolerable. Am told book 5 is better, but if you're only averaging one good book in every two, you might want to considering writing half as many books :)
