Gave up on it. It was fun and informative of WWI European society's reactions to military, politics, social norms. But after a time became repetitive in it's motif of all the things Svejk was rebelling against (albeit in amusing ways).

Ugh! Awful. Not at all like Grapes of Wrath which I really liked. Read Wikipedia's breakdown of each of the 4 parts. I'm considering jumping to parts 3 & 4, Part 1 just drags, is way too wordy, and I cannot even relate to it - it does not draw me in. Moving on to another book.
