Gardner proposed that there are multiple intelligences, each distinct from general intelligence. While he argues that damage to specific centers of the brain can suppress particular types of intelligence, I did not find this reasoning compelling. Much of the book focuses on describing what Gardner believes to be these unique intelligences.
