I have liked Amina Cain's fiction and am delighted to find that I love her nonfiction. Reading this in the morning is very good for me; what better way to start the day than a thoughtful, expansive, conversational consideration of sentences, of solitude, of fiction as a concept.

I'm glad I took a break from this for a while, and more glad that I returned to it.

Often silly, often tedious, sometimes very fun.

I was really looking forward to this but so far I really don't care about it.

Several long snow days without much else to do besides be angry and afraid have helped me appreciate this a little more, at least for some escapism.

Kinda fun. I think it's going to be hard for me to spend over 1200 pages with characters who seem to have so little interiority. I somehow didn't realize this was another napoleonic novel, and I can't help but compare it to War & Peace, which seems to understand humans so much better, and to care about them so much more.

Really good introduction and curation by Danez Smith. Langston wrote "The Negro Speaks of Rivers" when he was only 18?!

This is fun! A well done version of the classic Lonely Kid Begins To Understand Their True Identity Upon Discovering That The World Is Full Of Magic And Danger story that I will always be a sucker for.

I tried to read Simone Weil but I couldn't do it right now, so I've returned to someone who I know to be less thinky and more thoughtful.

This is fine, but it definitely seems like something that would be more appealing to nostalgic adults than to actual kids.

Three chapters in; this is quite good and it's very fun to be reading something that takes place in KCK, though the geography isn't really making sense to me. I really want to try to get the author to do a reading at Flagship.
