Chapter 24. OMFG. What was that. This just gets better and better.

Reached Chapter 12. I am LOVING the bits with James and Will. This is off to a much stronger start than Dark Rise, which kinda makes sense as that was setting everything up. Even Elizabeth has become interesting. Visander is cool. Poor Sarah, though.

I enjoyed the first 2 books in this series but I'm struggling with this one. The angst seems somewhat forced. 40% in, neither Todd nor Fazil has made an impression. I don't find Fazil particularly likeable and Todd seems generic.

I may come back to this when I'm more receptive to these MCs, because I do like this author's works.

Need a break from all the toxicity in the news, and reading a book about it doesn't help. News purge begins...now.

Read a passage that gave me a distinct flashback to The Neverending Story, when Morla slowly rises from the Swamps of Sadness. "We don't even care whether or not we care." Genius! Morla's my hero.

OK, I am loving this!! The first person POV is not troublesome at all, and it's really, really funny and cute.

This isn't working for me. First person POV makes me uncomfortable (didn't read the sample on Amazon :( ) , but I only stopped reading when Bayne tells us: "I quelled the urge..." Seemed a stilted word choice for a character like Bayne.

This one's going on pause.

"There is the Jack in the Green, the country custom of dressing up in foliage." Wow. This one line sent me back to listening to Jack in the Green by Jethro Tull. I've always loved Ian Anderson's pagan lyrics and music and IDK...this reference brought back so many good memories. Loving it.

I'm a sucker for office romances and this book is really enjoyable so far. I already like Michael so much (a stud in glasses. Unf.)

Really enjoying this! It's Lawrence's scientific bent that's doing it for me :)
