So boy moms have been around always? I see … and why is it I can never pick a book with any sympathetic characters atm? 😂

“On the holiday morning Mary-Love looked wan and sad, as if she had just heard not only that her favourite cousin had died, but that he hadn’t left her any money.”

😂😂

Alice Madness: The Beginning 😅

The absolute delusions and hoops this woman jumps through trying to justify this man …

BUT we just popped a blister of a ‘twist’ so maybe we’ll get some development now. We kind of need it I feel. And they need to start talking to each other.

Still loving the satire though. And Elspeth seemed like a cray-cray queen

If nothing else this is reminding me why academia was not for me.

Also, chapter 13 was beautiful 🥹

This is all delightfully pretentious.

And as far as I can tell one big satire on the silliness of academia 😅 maybe that will change

This feels personal Kuang.
“He’s a medievalist, mind you” and the fact that book hoarders are in the First Circle of Hell 😂

Guess I’ll be in good company. Maybe.

Even knowing ‘the twist’ it didn’t take away from it. It was maybe even a bit of ‘shit, here it comes’ when it happened.

Also, this character gallery is exactly what I like; everyone is kind of horrible. No one is ‘a hero’.

Such a quote though: “I don’t respect you very much, but I do think you’re a fundamentally good man”

… see what I mean?

This is one of those books, where nothing is really happening. But it’s still really cool and exciting. And you keep saying “I’ll just finish this chapter” and then you finish that chapter and you start the next one without really realising it …

Is it groundbreaking and the best I’ve ever read? No. But I’m having a great time.

So far very similar to the movie. One regret I have from watching the movie first is knowing the plot twist. But I’m still enjoying things a lot!

Also, learned something about microwaves — turns out you don’t want to use one where the grid in the door is broken …

And now to something completely different y — let’s see if Andy Weir works for me.

Second book of this Bornholm trip.

We’re getting to the penultimate of this. And I’m still not sure who it could be … but I have a few guesses

I forgot Katabasis before leaving for Bornholm. Luckily I brought the perfect read for being in a cabin in the middle of the woods … 😳

“To be honest she had never gotten round to reading Proust, but Cambridge had made her the kind of person who wanted to have read Proust, and she figured Hell was a good place to start”

Honestly, not untrue

We’re in the peach

“To me, these features would be recognisable anywhere, even in pristine darkness or infirm blindness. I had memorised them all in pristine precision with not just my eyes, but my fingers, my mouth, my tongue, my breath. I would recognise his face always, in any manifestation, in this life or any other.”

😭😭😭

I swear, if anything truly bad happens to my beautiful boys … I will riot

*squeeling and kicking my feet*
I’ve been grinning for the last 3 chapters
