Cameron I love your podcast and the premise seems interesting but did you have to repeat "mechanics of speculation" so much in the front half of this book? Quip aside, excited to see how this progresses. Fascinating reading of Meillasoux's speculative realism and speculation and looking forward to the case studies

Concepts of "immaterial labour" and "cognitive capitalism" are incredibly illuminating in studying postindustrial societies. The job does a decent job trying to prove these through archival examples (Electronic Arts and Video Game History), but the book's theoretical link to Hardt and Negri's Empire seems tenuous atp. Otherwise a pretty engaging read so far :)

Chapter 1 "Gamic Action: Four Moments" is insanely clear and quite edifying. Galloway mobilises a bag of Deleuzian concepts to analyse a shockingly large amount of games beyond narratives and ludic loops. To me the most exciting of these is his analysis of "nondiagetic operator acts"; acts like inventory management and menu diving that are "allegor[ies] for the algorithmic structure of today's informatic culture"

ArunDithha's "Unidentifiable Object" and portions of Zeha's "mere-made" are quite stunning (see: "man-made/made by mereness" and "plastered to these bones/and for what/for borders to be parameters of what is enough/what is reclamation/what is it") but Rosaly Puthucheary has been the complete unexpected force of this folio so far.
