I gave up. I just didn’t care.

Tough going so far.

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I am, but Vance is a gifted and empathetic storyteller, and I'm really enjoying it.

Every time I get to a Nikolai Rostov chapter, I totally lose interest in this book.

For a short book, this has gotten kind of exhausting.

and am struggling with how dry it is. The Romans did not do a create job of recording women's lives.
