Third time trying to read this book, will see if I can make it

I thought I would like this book but I am finding it poorly reasoned and meandering.

Oh, I really liked the premise of this book... but the writing is not delivering! A lot of 'tell' instead of 'show' and the I'm not connecting with the characters :/

Just started. I think this might be one of the most soulful opening paragraphs I have ever read. It is poetry.

One of the most surprising things re-reading this, is how well the futurism holds up for the late-20-teens

Enjoying. But realizing I have had the phrase "just deserts" wrong for decades.

The prose in this book is so dreamy

Uh-oh, finding with this reread that I don't appreciate the writing style and cheeky asides as much as I did in the past.

Recently recommended this book and so I am re-reading it, which reminded me of how weird it really is.

"He was a passionate and persuasive speaker, and his reputation grew. An extremely intelligent man, he was more interested in ideas than in what he or others owned. He lived by a strict code and had a highly developed sense of justice"

Highly enjoying so far!

In many ways I think this book and Ishiguro's "The Buried Giant" are both describing the same phenomenon of collective trauma and memory in the same way. This book is more beautifully written, imo.

This book is really dense

How does she do it? 5 chapters in and I am in awe of how she writes Eddie's character through casual statements

Enjoying the topic, finding the writing hard to follow.

This isn't my usual read, since my primary audience is adult learners, but I was curious when an educator friend made an impassioned push on Facebook.
