Strangely, the style is a bit stream-of-consciousness rather than robust and structured. I think I'm going to read this a bit more slowly.

Does anyone else feel that Roy is sickly sentimental? The writing is good, nothing outstanding (I haven't read God of Small tho). And sometimes, her insights are quite fascinating. She's constructing an ancient city like Delhi with its sprawling panorama, its disparate people. And ofc the political turmoil around Kashmir too. But the execution is just too saccharine for my taste 🙄 don't love picking this up
