Murakami did a good job creating unlikeable characters. Don’t know if that was his intention, but he does a lot of showing and not telling in his writing. Say, Naoko would talk about how she is and it’s just not showing in her character. I dont think people constantly talk about sex as artfully as murakami makes it out to be. It’s actually making the characters shallow.

…Anne doesn’t deserve Gilbert. Justice for Gilbert.

I love it so far. This book has the potential to be one of my favorites, and I’m aware people either love Holden or hate him, but I resonate with him. Not so simply like “I do that too”, but the way I have thought and had the tendencies the way Holden did (of course in a less exaggerated, hidden way) and often believe I’ve struggled with underlying alienation and disillusionment b/c of it.

I’m struggling 😭 I have time knowing what’s going on and I don’t find the jokes very funny..? Idk this genre is out of my zone so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pretty good so far. I haven’t read anything like this before is entertaining.

A bit of a stiff beginning… u rly got to shift ur brain into thinking mode when reading classics cuz the writing is harder to understand. But I love the Brontë sister’s style :)

… I thought the murder plan would be more intricate. Well, I guess it is thought out, but rather anticlimactic, unless, something else is gonna happen…
I’m not rly loving any characters rn. They all seem a bit too similar with one another.

Pretty good… but I can see why some people do say this book can get a little wordy and “too descriptive” it doesn’t bother me tho :)

I know Richard is the main character, but I wish they hadn’t just explained the whole thing. It could’ve been more interesting if Richard had seen them covered in blood briefly, or maybe remnants of blood in Henry’s home. Then, Richard could’ve perhaps tried to piece what had happened himself?

So something crazy did happen 😃

I really need to sit down for this book. It’s a heavy book and I’m currently reading Secret History right now so I’ll come back to it!

Need to come back to this while I read Anne 😅 I think I tend to like stories with a little more structure and I’m at the parts of little women where they are just instances of the March sisters lives (which is totally fine!)

The first book was great at the beginning then it slowly went a little down.
The second book was a enjoyable but a bit stagnant throughout for me (maybe I just don’t like reading about teachers doing their jobs) but I loved the ending half. It was the best.
Now this book, I’m almost halfway, but I’m still waiting for something to happen? I still love Anne though.
