This book has become very frustrating. The first half had many encouraging devotions on the topic of love. But the second half seems to rely more heavily on extracts of other books, creating devotions that feel cobbled together, incomplete and lacking relevance to the Scriptures quoted or to the reader. Plucking a section of writing from a book and tacking a Scripture onto it does not create quality devotions.

I'm not sure if I'll finish reading this. I keep telling myself to read one more chapter and see if it improves. It has the elements for a good story, but it's slow and not engaging me. I probably wouldn't have listened to this much if it weren't for the Librivox narrator. I'm so used to him reading good books, I feel like this should be good too.

Not sure how I will go with this. My best friend was a dog lover. She passed away just a few months ago. I expect reading this will bring back memories of the stories she told me about her dogs. Hopefully it will be good and will help me to remember her.

Taking a break. I lost interest a bit and find it difficult to relate to the author. I'll come back to it later.

Struggling to finish this. I find his older books to be less helpful than his newer ones and disagree with some of his points on anger. I don't agree with his interpretation of Scripture in this account and feel that he has left out verses which would disprove his point and only included those that do.

I'm struggling to get through this one. It's the first book of this series I haven't enjoyed; it's so slow and painful. The answer to the mystery was obvious from the first few chapters, and it's just dragged on since. The author has really had drag the plot out in order to make the book the length of a novel.

I'm not sure if I want to continue this book. Chapter 8 ended on a cliffhanger. Chapter 9 detailed St Nicholas's visit to another household, and it's another four chapters before the author returns to the story of Hans. I like the mc, but the author could have easily written a book half the size. I'm not sure about the librivox narrator either.

The writing is good, but the mc is a jerk. According to other readers he mends his ways, so I'll keep reading.

Funny, but scarily accurate

I've tried reading one more chapter and I've decided watching the grass grow on my drought stricken lawn would be more entertaining. I'm giving up.

Very dull so far. Not sure if this one will be worth finishing.

I've been reading the Wolves of Willoughby chase series, and sadly they seem to be going downhill. I gave the last one 2 stars and I'm not sure I want to finish this one. Is it worth the effort when there are so many good books out there waiting to be read? It would be a shame to stop as I do want to read the series, and I've borrowed it on an interlibrary loan from the other side of the country, but its just so odd!

Not sure about Fire. On the one hand the writing is brilliant. On the other the indiscriminate sex is bugging me. Should I keep reading?

I think i've reached the point of boredom with this story. The writing is fine but the story is so predictable.
