Oh my God, what a creepy asshole. Ew.

Only 36 pages in, this book already deftly points its finger at racism, ethnic cliches and toxic masculinity. I love the versatility of the horror genre so much!

I was just getting increasingly annoyed with the repetitions and similes when it became all about agency and self-determination, and there’s an unexpected surprise happening. It’s coming together quite nicely now.

Getting increasingly annoyed with the sisters. When you’re afraid of your sisterhood bond breaking, hiding things from each other CLEARLY isn’t helping. And they all know it.

Also, mentioning the same facts over and over is very unnecessary.

We’re gearing up for the last stand, and it is time.

One more case of “All they’d have to do is talk to each other.”

I, too, want a sentient, kind house that makes me tea whenever I need it.

I am now completely team Fran&Stu. And very worried about the baby.

I should probably DNF this since I don’t think it’ll end up being more than three stars, but the thing is, I like Beatrix too much. She’s the one I relate to. Duh.
And reading this book before bedtime helps me wind down.

How can I NOT read a book that has the word “tea” on every other page.

It’s softly pulling me in. The Japanese near-future setting is both foreign and intriguing. And I’m wondering: Is John trans?

The Englishmen’s treatment of the Sherpas is atrocious. And it’s probably not a good idea to disrespect their superstitious beliefs and rites. Just sayin’.
