I can smell the stink of this book - which was clearly Nat Cassidy’s intention. He really knows how to do ‘gross’.

Starting to get attached to Billy (whose real, Native name we just learned).

Well. The slow burn just turned into fireworks.

Could use more plot and forward momentum.

This reads like Stephen King meets Nick Cutter. Excellent.

We’ve had some very nice hurt/comfort, She Falls First and a reveal that I didn’t see coming although I should have. This is nice.

It’s gritty and pulpy, and I’m not sure yet if this is my vibe.

So, childhood friends-to-lovers, is it? And She Falls First? Fine by me, as long as she holds on to that sword and grows into her kick-assery more.

This is a weird experience. One minute, I’m enjoying myself among the unashamedly fan-fictiony bickering and secret pining, and the next I’m startled out of my enjoyment by yet another cock suddenly hanging out or another off-putting joke about anuses.

What’s with the obsession for anal jokes? I mean, literally? And the sudden and uncalled-for flashing of male genitalia?
Otherwise, I’m enjoying the trope-y bickering and sparks of involuntary attraction between our enemies-to-lovers MCs.

Not a fan of the sudden, in-your-face raunchiness. But I still like the playful, knife-sharp bickering.

I like the tongue-in-cheek humor, and something somehow feels very French about the writing. The fine features arrogance of the MC’s? Possibly.
