It's ridiculous to hear an unmarried woman in Victorian England taking about having an affair without even once worrying about getting pregnant. People. Sex makes babies. Historical ladies worried a lot about that.

This is the worst editing job I have ever seen in my life. Blair died 10 months ago; no, 5; no, 6. The woman Jane lives with is Lady Carruthers; no, Denby; no, Carruthers; no, Denby! (It's definitely Carruthers.)

I'm really enjoying this book, but let's all acknowledge that people in Regency England didn't describe unsavoury locales as being "shady." Seriously, Jo.

It's hard to believe that Mary Balogh was so strapped for British surnames that we had to have a Lady Muir and a Miss Muirhead in the same series.
