You know, these older MM romance books have something kind of addictive to them. They're messy. Over the top. Sometimes even politically incorrect or culturally insensitive but they're so human and flawed and full of life and pathos. Even my own writing is more polished these days. Call me nostalgic or naive but I miss the mess.

This is excellent.

I miss the old MM romance of the 2010s... Back when we made a lot of mistakes and were kind of exploring the genre and it was messy and sometimes cliche or over the top or flat out horrible. But it was also innocent in some way and full of good will and curiosity. We wrote for ourselves and not to please.
