about time i read this book that i got many many years ago

FINALLY DONE W THE BULK OF THE BOOK. NOW ONTO THE LONG ASS EPILOGUE. I LOVE LOVEEE

Almost done. War stuff and etc starting to wrap up. I hope I finish before end of month. I prob will.

War is over (I think) French retreat. Pierre solves the mystery to happiness

i sense things are slowly wrapping up and the final revelations and self actualization will start to take place.

V3P3 finally made it to page 1000 !! Officially my longest book ! Tolstoy is acting like a historian/professor and love is real and makes me cry wahhhh

V3P2:
Battle of Borodino. Tolstoy is mocking napoleon. Andrey realizes what is important in life. Tolstoy continues to compare ambition/glory/power with humanity, spirit, love, and connection. I forgive andrey I love him. I hope LOVE DOES PREVAIL. Also fun to look back at earlier parts/volumes and see how it’s all connecting now.

V3P1:
Slowing down now bc have been busy and maybe getting a bit burnt out? Ch 1 was interesting and I liked reading about tolstoys thoughts on history and war. Seems like volume 3 will be mostly focused on war and will be the turning point.

V2P5:
Plot rly picked up, so much drama now. I love u Natasha sweetheart. She just wants love and romance but has the worst taste and so far has loved a male manipulator lying manwhore and a man who proposes but also decides to travel the world for a year and told her that she’s free to do whatever she wants (what’s she supposed to do w that??) luv u girl

V2P4:
It’s winter. People are depressed. Natasha losing faith in love. Nikolai must answer duty vs love, desire vs responsibility. COMPUTA play the cure by Olivia Rodrigo.

Love love love ! Tolstoy is such a romantic. I have to stop applying it to my life or people in my life bc I get sad or overthink tho lol. Am I Natasha or the dead wife. Maybe I’m Pierre. Andrei has captured my heart tho but maybe too much.

Finally getting to character development and journeys.
Pierre starts his spiritual journey and I'm excited to see that unfold. Others are contemplating what the point of the war is, what's the meaning of life, etc.

Finally some society plot. The rostovs are so sweet and cute and “the house is full of love” ! Men are dogs. Women are pure of heart but also naive. Really on my annotating game rn kinda fun.

V1P3: finished volume one now !
Enjoying it more than I thought I would esp with all the war parts. Enjoying the existential questions coming up via context of war.

V1P2:
I’m like Charlie Brown reading war and peace. Finally got the hard copy which makes it easier to read/annotate. The war parts are a slog and confusing but the character developments hidden within are interesting. The men are starting to feel disappointed in the realities of war (it’s not as glorified and awesome as they thought)

V1 part 1:
Just lots of character introductions. Just embracing not remembering everyone and hoping they’ll click soon. Andrei leaves to go to war.

starting this behemoth 🙏🙏🙏 . Reading the Briggs translation bc it’s the more enjoyable version and also translates the french in line instead of in footnotes.

Oh goodness. Almost done. Levins at the club w the boys and him and vronsky are chums. Levin crushes on Anna while she clings to vronsky. He wants freedom. Kitty gives birth. Levin is afraid of birth but feels pity and care for his soon. Stiva begs alexey for a divorce. Petersburg is more free than Moscow. Moscow zaps life. Anna is starting to spiral. Picking fights. Jealous. Crash out

Dolly thinks about motherhood and feels trapped and burdened. She needs her husband but he’s trapping her. Dolly faces alternate reality w Anna. She is beautiful, in love, and rich. At the same time, Anna is trapped. Vronsky is trapped. Levin hates the elections. And is confused, like me. What a cutie. Stiva loves a drunk telegram ;)

Levins brother died and he has to face death and the meaning of it. Lots of dichotomies abt love. Anna’s son just wants to be loved by his dad and doesn’t believe in death. Anna is pissing me off low key but I get it at times. Levin is jealous abt a man talking to his wife. He don’t play about his woman.

Levin and kitty are married. Vronsky dabbles in painting. Levin gets used to married life and all the quibbles and quarrels that come with having a woman in your life
