Cameron is finished with The Savage Detectives
I think the idea of Savage Detectives is really cool but I'm just not fw the style. Feels too disparate to hook onto. Part 1 was strong, Part 2 loses me. I'm not "finished" because I got to page 577 but I'm finished in that. I'm done with this for now. Liked to come back around someday. Don't want to close off any book forever.

I feel like now the book starts proper. It took that much time to set everything into motion, but it was worth it. I thought it would be all rambling and meandering through Mexico City, which I wasn't complaining about but now the world feels as open as road the boys (and Lupe) are heading down.

I started the book as soon as it arrived in the mail. I've poured over every chapter 2x to try and really crack this nut and id say it's been worth it. Even if you weren't easily confused like i am it's worth going slow and analyzing

Cameron is on page 200 of 359 of Wuthering Heights
I keep imagining Willem Dafoe playing Joesph. I think it's a character either would take to: an old man so obsessed with their religion they've shut out any familial emotions or relations. In a way he's the scariest member of the family of sociopaths. He's like the wild hateful ignorantly obsessed too-old-to-change nut winding up everyone's paranoia and fear. He scared hell so deeply in them they went crazy.

Cameron is on page 342 of 478 of The Notebook, The Proof, The Third Lie: Three Novels
End of Book 2: The Proof. Not as punishing or dispassionate as Book 1, the story is more structured and has long form events. The sense of time is still skewed sometimes it jumps weeks, months, or even years without telling. Part of me wonders what part of this book inspired Mother 3

First book, The Notebook, finished. The book is cruel and dispassionate. Never referring to anyone by name except Harelip, which also isn't a name but the only real "nickname" too. Everyone is a profession or relation. No familiarity. It dispenses cruel news in a matter-of-fact way. No emotion. The boys, Lucas and Claus, who have grown up in the midst of war have learned to totally tune out violence and depravity.
