Why was that a prologue and not just chapter one?

Last year I decided I wanted to read a fan fiction before the reworked published version was released. I chose Manacled simply because it was from an IP I was familiar with and I kept hearing about it. Well, I ended up hating it but that’s not going to stop me from reading this (and probably hating as well).
