No. Crimes. Is this a third act breakup?? Arrest everyone involved in the publishing of this book. They’re criminals involved in crimes who love criming.

This book is criminally boring. The narrator is making it a misery. Not even interest. Just don’t want to end because it’s nearly over.

Men. Touraine's penchant for betraying her team to save her other team is EPIC. A compound fool.

As entertaining as I knew it would be. Tension up the wazoo.

This book is criminally mid. I'm hoping this is just a bad Anna Burke. Quite uninteresting.

So this is def a 4 star read. Both MCs are lunatics. For all the praise of Tourraine in reviews, she’s literally a moron and a fool. But the intrigue of managing rebels seeking independence over a colonial power when you’re sympathetic to the ruler of the colonial power was done very well.

Finishing this today and jumping into book 2. Both MCs are lunatics.

I’m enjoying this. Abby Craden narrator makes this a pleasure.

The political intrigue in this one is high. I don’t even know where this is going.

Nice book to listen to at night.

Narrator is a miss. The story is just okay, given all the hype in the reviews. Maybe I've just read some really good books recently, not to mention the intrigue ongoing in C.L. Clark's Unbroken. Still nice to listen to a contemporary romance.

I can see why Touraine’s story is considered more interesting. That’s where all the action and intrigue is.

I’m entering another Woiwood because of how Betty Hughes affected me.

I’m realizing there’s barely any me in this world. Okay. I like.

For all of the erotic scenes, watching Betty come into her sexuality, finding she’s aroused by voyeurism (my girl wanted a little porn!), the personal and familial changes, and falling in love with Ava, this is actually a very emotional book. I feel wrung the fuck out. 5 stars.

So definitely a 5 star read for the emotional rollercoaster alone. Sigh. Rooting for my for Betty and Ava though.

I think I'm going to rate this 5 stars. I don't think a book has immersed me in a person's emotions (even when I hated it) as much as this book in this year. This is probably some of the best writing I've read this year and while Veracity of Lies is still my favorite Woiwood book, this is definitely a close second.

Heather Walter writes an intriguing action scene quite well. While misrule isn’t as entertaining as malice, it’s still a well written book. And following Alice through her maturation in this book has been good. Some of the insufferableness has evolved into more mature thought. I’ve actually enjoyed this series. This is a strong 3 star read.
