I should finish this tonight but I might choose sleep over listening. Has been an immensely entertaining experience though.

This has been a very pleasant read. I like the narrator. And Ms. Dugan tells a beautiful story. Both MCs trying to work their way back through their issues is quite pleasant. Definitely 4 star reading experience.

Sigh. Actually, sleeping with the ex when things remain unresolved wasn’t too good an idea. I’m sympathetic.

Jesus. I’m rushing through this! I’m gonna be sad when this ends.

God this book is restoring my hope in romance. It’s a relief to read a book about characters who actually have chemistry. It’s possible to write like this! Jesus.

Okay so this third act breakup is a travesty. The mother daughter resolution was criminal. I was leaning to 3 stars but with these choices it’s looking like 2. I’m hoping Ms Stone and Ms Billings are able to land this plane. The book wasn’t bad during the first 70%.

Sorry, please, is she faking? Is this real? What is up with these dramatics over the fucking bribes??

For a fluffy light hearted read this one hits it outta the park. I’m actually enjoying this.

Flannery. It wasn’t in the last hour or two. I promise. It’s been like this since the beginning.

You guys! They’re breaking up. Jesus. I’m so excited. I can’t imagine why this disaster of a relationship would be the basis of a relationship decades later. Will be skipping book 2. Thanks Ms. Brownrigg.

I was enjoying their descent into breakup. No two people have ever needed to break up like these two buffoons. But now it’s cringe. This surprise visit has me bursting out in goose bumps. I’m cringed the fuck out. I need this book to end asap. Should be 0 stars. Just a travesty of a work. Thank God it’s a short book.

At least the spice is good.

Why does Anne seem to disdain Flannery for being a child when she’s the one who seduced a child? Like sis. Stop acting like you have standards. You’re fucking a kid. Gross ass mofo.

Wait. Is Anne gross or is this the author’s assumption of what a worldly 28 year old woman would say? She’s corny, cringe, annoying and creepy. I’m disappointed in this character. Both MCs.

So Anne is just actually gross.

Ew. Are we sure Anne isn’t a 50+ year old man cradle robbing a teenager? Clearly I need to read more lesbian books about grooming and age gaps that are unconscionable. This doesn’t feel like a romance at all. Neither character likes the other. I wonder if that’s what the author is going for?

Lol. You’re telling me Anne is enjoying this? Can’t feel it. This is such a disappointment. Especially after reading An Infatuation by Jennifer Lyndon. That is what heading affairs should feel like. Even Yael van der Wouden’s Safekeep has high emotional notes on the affair than this crock of shit.

This isn’t a great work.

Flannery doesn’t read like she’s infatuated or taken by Anne. She reads like she’s a navel gazer impressed by her use of language in describing this relationship. Everything feels emotionally disconnected. Even the sex feels distant from the body. A heady affair with an older woman at 17 should transform your body not just your mind. That’s not the case with Flannery. Could be Anne is mid.

Oh God. I’m dying. This book is torture. She popped her cherry?? Jesus. It’s like I’m in Epstein island. Why is this highly regarded????

So Anne is gross and creepy.

Oh my God. This whole section is creepy and nasty. That’s a 17 year old. Gross. Yeah this is not a pleasant reading experience. Nasty.

Mehn. Na wa oh. Which kain mid book be this. I’m not pulled by either character or their romance. I’m actually a little uncomfortable with Ann clearly seducing this child. And while books are allowed to be transgressive, at least make it interesting. Make it compelling. I don’t see why Ann would be interesting in a teenager. Except maybe she’s a creep.

I don't even know if I'm enjoying this. It's as mid as mid can be. But maybe I need a downer from all the emotionally charged literature I've been consuming.
