Superiority to fate
Is difficult to learn.
'T is not conferred by any,
But possible to earn

A pittance at a time,
Until, to her surprise,
The soul with strict economy
Subsists till Paradise.

If the amount of information in science doubles every nine months and decays at 30 per cent a year, how long does one's expertise last? Without constantly updating your knowledge base you could end up with as little as 15 per cent of your technical knowledge relevant within just five years. However, when you can google just about anything, knowledge acquisition becomes more important than knowledge retention. —Liz W.

"It is rare to be born as a human being
It is still more rare to be born without any deformity Even if you are born without any deformity It is rare to acquire knowledge and education Even if one could acquire knowledge and education It is still rare to offer service to mankind And contemplate on higher self. If one leads such a selfless divine life The gates of heaven open to greet such an evolved soul. —Avvaiyar"

I am loving this one. The story is about one man's will to become the greatest salesman and the hardships that comes with it and his will to change himself, conquer his fear and make something of himself.

Depressed and wanting to die, Nora's life has been nicely described. There are few books who hook you right from the word go. And Matt Haig has written in such art.

I could feel the change in mood of Nora. How wonderful is that. Loved the character. However, later in this, there is a sudden introduction of a different dimension/world. That is stange and new to me. Also maybe cause I haven't got hold of many fiction

I am impressed by the vivid description of the setting and the events. They are complete in details and in terms of the emotions they generate. I loved the setting, however, to be honest, I wanted to move on quickly. In that aspect, it was painfully slow.

I am impressed by Anita Desai. Still some part left but I admire her imagination and the flow of the story.

Will update the full review once I am done, to be fair

From a boy who narrowly escaped death during Partition (most of his family was not so lucky), to a juvenile delinquent who stole and outran the police, to a young Army recruit who ran his very first race to win special privileges for himself (a daily glass of milk). After that first race, Milkha Singh became an athlete by default. And what followed was the stuff legends are made of.

I am enjoying this book so far.

Generalists vs Specialists is a personality based preference. David Epstein has given multiple example of virtuosos starting with varied parallel interests before zeroing on to that one particular interest.

Not a smooth read but I am finding someone who is justifying my otherwise weird interests.
