hilarious. i was completely mislead by the praise that said it's a funny book, i was made to believe that it's usually the opposite, that it would probably try to be funny. i didn't get the feeling that it tried to be funny, not at all. this book is what it is, and it is serious and it is wrenching and it is effortlessly hilarious.

One is an accident, two is a coincidence, three is a pattern. And you, Halle Butler, write about complainers. a lot. I'll admit it scratches a part of my brain that I don't like scratching myself, it feels a bit unlike me, but I just know that I'll save your 4th book for when I'm really frustrated, use it as my own little escape, a world in which I can read about people who hate their lives, so as to not hate mine.
