The essays are superbly written, and her insights are marvelous. She speaks to artists, works, and movements with which I am somewhat unfamiliar. Captivating, and easy to digest, but very thoughtful.

Incredibly prescient; amazing and depressing book.

As dark and racial as Walter Mosley; perhaps even more amusing.

Very amusing. Style is much different than novelists might use today, but very amusing book of it's era.

As expected, it is well done. Isabel Wilkerson is an excellent scholar and writer. Much to do to get accurate history in place of myth, and from there to move on.

The pillars of racism are a good way to have organized the way it fits together and is organized.

Good read about both the period he lived and the author.
