This is one of those comedies tinged with sadness right at the end.

This has gone from being slightly weird and dull - to being one of the funniest, cleverest and creepiest books I’ve read. Amazing!

It took me eighty pages to realise this was a comedy.

Now I’m much more into it and switched-on!

Hurston comes across as a no-nonsense agony aunt - and I am loving it! This is brilliant. Easily the best novel I’ve read so far this year.

That’s more like it, uni reading list!! This is great. I’m torn between the instinct to read it all in one sitting, and the duty to stop and diligently take notes to remember it all.

Miranda is a Tolstoyan thinker! There’s that same ethos of acceptance, nonresistance, and (literally) doglike in-the-moment trust that Tolstoy espouses in his two major novels.
