I’m predicting that Helene will be r*ped by Marcus by the end of book 1. I truly hope I’m wrong but this book might be that twisted

Omg! Eeeee!!! So far I’m really loving Elias’s storyline cause he so desperately wants to escape and not be evil but he’s stuck. And I like how we see both sides and that he’s supposedly in a role in this society that’s safe and well respected but him (and his peers) are terrified of being beaten and killed almost as much as Laia and her people. And Laia’s storyline is getting good now too! So good so far

Murderbot is literally hilarious. It’s so awkward with humans and such an introvert! Relatable reaction when it’s interrupted from watching its tv shows. I get annoyed too! Haha

Why is this audiobook so long omg

I’m listening to the audiobook (mostly at work) It makes me laugh out loud it’s so silly. But it’s a stark contrast to One Dark Window which had so little details in the world building and characters

I’m so close but I’m falling asleep. Glad it’s almost over

I’m so out of touch from reading I FORGOT
I OWN THE PHYSICAL BOOK 😭 i just realized 85% of the way through that it’s been on my TBR stack this whole time (I’ve been listening to the audiobook and then literally waited on hold for the ebook for a few days)

It’s still not good but at least I have real paper now

I really hope I didn’t spend a lot of money on this copy

The more I read the more question I have about this magic system. It doesn’t really make much sense. We are told Elspeth can absorb the magic powers of the cards and that’s how she ends up absorbing the nightmare into her head. But why can’t she read people’s thoughts since that’s the power everyone else gets from the nightmare card? Literally makes no sense

Another thing that’s odd. They use “Trees” as a swear word or like in replace of god. Like they say “oh trees” or “trees, that’s crazy”. I get the trees are sacred or whatever but I find it makes me laugh in a bad way

Also, all of their names of odd like you could have spelt ravyn as raven and jespyr as Jesper. Feels like we’re being edgy just to be edgy

The author keeps referring to Ravyn as “The Captain of the Destriers” and it’s annoying. Like yes we get it he’s the captain, but the phrase is being over used.

Also, the just kissed but I don’t know why. I didn’t feel enough “will they won’t they” / “omg why won’t they admit they like each other” energy. Not enough bonding beforehand imo
