I returned this book and although I enjoy the niche and place that his art seems to sit in, I don’t think I care enough about him to read the whole biography.

Did not finish, got halfway through.

Part memoir, part history, 1000 Days is 1000 pages of Kennedy's presidency presented in a fairly generous manner. Schlesinger's writing makes this a fairly easy read (although the sections on economic policy were a tough go), and he does does a fairly good job of presenting other views of the time. The length can be an issue but it is organized very well.

Comprehensive and well-argued. Even though it is a larger volume (and only covers 1/2 of his life),the organization and writing makes it a fairly easy read. Some sections referencing political theory or historical philosophy (especially in the segment covering Kissinger's time at Harvard) took a bit of re-reading and googling to understand.

Well-paced history of the war. Looks at both sides' perceptions and actions at key points (peace negotiations, battles, etc.) during the war, reasoning behind certain actions and overall trends as well. The use of maps add to understanding of the ancient alliances and events.
